Lohan’s arrest fobulously animated by Taiwanese news site

Remember the hilarious animation illustrating the Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno feud?  Well, it looks like Taiwanese animated news site, NMA, has released another animation to keep the Taiwanese people up-to-date with American celebrity gossip.  Check out this creative interpretation of Lindsay Lohan’s arrest!

Hugh Jackman can sing in Chinese!

My favorite wolverine has just gone up in my book. Watch this video of Hugh Jackman, 41, singing a country western song in Mandarin for his upcoming movie Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.

The movie is based on a book authored by Lisa See, 55, a Chinese American author. According to her bio, her grandfather was at one point the  “100-year-old godfather of Los Angeles’s Chinatown.” I find this really interesting because when I first started graduate journalism school in Chicago, I was assigned to cover the windy city’s Chinatown and spent quite a bit of time in the area. It was a fascinating experience, and I grew to know many people in the community. You can’t imagine the kind of politics that went on in this little neighborhood, especially between the Taiwan and Mainland China groups. The power struggle even led to squabbles over seemingly minor issues like the Chinese New Year parade. Check out a piece I wrote on the parade; it’s one of the first articles I published in Chicago!

Hong Kong animation retells Conan and Leno tug-of-war

It looks like the Conan and Leno ordeal has not only affected American viewers but fans internationally as well.  NMA News, a Hong Kong based news organization, created an entertaining animation to explain to Chinese fans the situation. I was particularly amused that their depiction of the ordeal involved Conan turning into the Hulk and Leno turning into a beer-bellied superhero.

Asian Conan kicks Asian Leno’s butt: Must watch!

While Conan O’Brien fans like myself are totally bummed about his departure from NBC, this video might just be the one good thing that came out of it all.
