Who would’ve known that those big, ugly, square steel containers you see at shipping ports could be used to create a 5-star hotel experience? A hotel called “Xiang Xiang Xiang Pray House,” which will be made from 35 new shipping containers is set to open next month in Nan Dazhan Cun, a rural village on the outskirts of Changzhi city in Shanxi Province. Changzhi city is known to attract tourists who hold large ceremonies to pray for good harvests and fortune.
What can you expect from your stay in a container hotel? The hotel will feature 21 guestrooms that come in two sizes: 15 square meters or 30 square meters. You won’t have to worry about feeling claustrophobic because the rooms will have 2.59-meter-high ceilings and windows installed on the side and roof. The hotel also aims to build its facilities to 5-star standards.
What’s cool is that this hotel was inspired by the shipping containers imported from China as temporary houses for earthquake survivors during the tsunami disaster.
