Old Chinese folks sing Bad Romance: Best Lady Gaga remix?

Honestly, I was laughing out loud when I first saw the video of old Chinese geezers turning the hip Lady Gaga song into their own cheesy rendition that’s a cross between the Macarena and Chinese Opera. Although I initially felt it was ridiculous, it’s kind of sweet to see them embrace the song and sing their hearts out. But I must admit, I’d totally die of embarrassment if I were one of their kids.

Here’s a translation of part of the chorus from a YouTube viewer:

“Dear son, you are so busy at work that you don’t visit us as often.

You even sound so busy when we are on the phone.

We, your parents have to find ways to entertain ourselves.

Guess what? Turn on your TV tonight and see us GaGa.

If you like it, give us a standing ovation so we don’t get too nervous.

If you love it, join us and sing with us.

Now let your grandma (GaGa) show you something.”

Note: they’re actually singing in the Changsha dialect, in which the word “gaga” means grandma.

(Thanks, Lu!)
