I normally don’t pay more than $5 bucks for a bowl of pho so when I heard that there was a $5000 pho, I had to ask myself, what the heck is in this bowl? Apparently, this extravagant bowl of beef noodle soup is made with A5 Wagyu beef, white alba truffles, a foie gras broth, and hand-raised bean sprouts. To top it all off, the “noodles” are made from rare blue lobster meat. I’m not sure if this is even pho anymore. Is the siracha sauce infused with gold too?
At least this ballin’ pho was made for a good cause. It was auctioned off last Friday at a benefit dinner held for the USCF Benioff Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospitals of Los Angeles/Orange County. No word yet on who placed the winning bid, but if you have some money laying around and want to indulge in $5000 pho for yourself, it will remain on Crustacean’s permanent menu with proceeds continuing to benefit the Children’s Hospital.
