I don’t know why, but fobs love attaching cute (but unnecessary) accessories to their cellphones and car keys, such as flashy bling or stuffed animals. Well, why get a stuffed animal if you can have a live one?
Apparently, the growing trend in China is key rings made of plastic bags filled with colored, oxygenated water. And swimming in it is a small fish, turtle, or other amphibian.
The squirming accessory costs around $1.50 each, but it comes with a warning: while these animals can live for days, they should be freed soon after purchasing since they will eventually suffocate. Yet another case for the animal rights activists.
As for me, I think I’d rather stick to the virtual Tamagotchi key chains that were popular in the 90s.
(Thanks, Michael!)
Are fobs crossing the line when it comes to animal rights? Check out Shark fin soup-the battle between belly and brain, and Chinese businesses pissed at banning sale of live turtles and frogs as food.
