Fob revelation: I love baseball

This post is dedicated to the team that I’ve come to love, and that I’m praying will make it to the World Series: the SF Giants!

I never thought this day would actually come, but I finally understand baseball.  You’re probably laughing at me, but it feels like a huge milestone.  After watching many games in San Francisco’s beautiful AT&T ballpark, I finally understand (and love!) the game.

For instance, I now understand that when the umpire waves his hands horizontally, it means “safe” and not, as I initially thought, “no go.”  (Doesn’t kind of look like it would mean that, though?!)  Also, I learned that the little kids who ran to grab the bat were actually bat boys, and not really, really short players.  It’s taken me a while, but I now get pretty much all the lingo, like NLDS (National League Division Series) and NLCS (National League Championship Series).  I even love how everyone gets up at the 7th inning to stretch and sing the baseball song.

Now, if only I could understand American football.

Sorry Suz, your giants are gonna get rolled by the Phillies if they manage to get it that far ^^

Plus the SF Giants currently have two players with Asian roots. Travis Takashi Ishikawa is a Yonsei born in the Seattle area and two time Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum’s mother is Filipina!

As good as the Phillies are, the Giants actually match up very well against them. The Giants have a lot of good lefty arms (Sanchez, Bumgardner, Javier Lopez, Jeremy Affeldt) to match up with many of the lefty power hitters (Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Raul Ibanez) in the Phillies lineup. The Giants also beat Roy Halladay earlier this season in San Francisco touching him up for 5ER in 7 innings and they are 3-0 vs. Roy Oswalt this season. The Giants were one error away from sweeping the Phillies at home earlier this season. Granted that both clubs are different teams now, it should still be a very good series. If the Giants can get by the Braves, don’t count them out of the NLCS…it may be a lot closer than people think.

Giants make the playoffs for the first time in 7 years and you’re all of a sudden a Giants fan? I don’t know…..seems like you’ve just gotten on the bandwagon more than anything. and I think the revelation is that you love the Giants….not baseball.

49ers are 0-5, so that might explain why you’re not understanding football….cause I don’t think they do either. :D

oh…and Philly will beat the Giants.

The Giants are in the World Series and the Phillies are not….haha. Just keep hating on the Giants. You will keep being surprised.
