Hey all you fellow Bay Area professionals (I love saying that, I still can’t believe I’m living here!), come join us August 12 to 15 for the Annual National Leadership Convention and Diversity Career Fair organized by NAAAP. It’s a great opportunity to scout around for potential employers, get to know other driven individuals and be inspired by some of the very accomplished speakers.
This year’s panel looks pretty impressive and diverse; it includes Sybase CEO John Chen, Charlotte Russe CEO Jenny Ming and CIA Director Leon Edward Panetta. I’m looking at the profile of another keynote speaker, former Chairman of United Commercial Bank Doreen Ho, and it turns out we both have something in common — she has a journalism background! She spent a year as the Cambodia correspondent for Time magazine and CBS in 1972. I’m really stoked to hear her speak now.
Now, some of you may think…wait a minute, what is NAAAP? The cool acronym stands for the National Association of Asian American Professionals, and it’s a non-profit that specializes in the promotion and cultivation of Asian American leaders.
Suzie and I are total nerds, so we’re very excited about the workshops they will be holding. For more details on registration, click here (they have great deals for students). And guess what? You can actually attend the career fair for free! AND those who submit upload their resumes and appear at the fair will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a new iPad.
Details and updates are available at www.naaapconvention.org
