I’m pretty bummed that Steve Carell won’t be returning back to “The Office” but after seeing the preview for the show “Outsourced,” I’m not so bummed out anymore. This show looks hilarious! Having lived in the Midwest and grown up in Singapore, where a predominant part of the country’s population is Indian, I feel like I can totally relate to the humor in this show. And if you’ve ever made a customer service call, I’m sure you can relate as well.
This series is about a Michigan-based Novelties company that sells such products as whoopee cushions and fake poop, and whose call center has suddenly been outsourced to India. The main character, Todd Dempsy, steps in as the new company’s manager, only to learn that he is being transferred to India to run the company’s offshore operation. I can only imagine the episodes that will evolve from a Midwesterner living in India and training the local employees about American novelty products and pop culture.
The show is to begin airing on NBC starting this fall. Check out the clip below!

Hey Amy, im gkad to find sum1 else who is eagerly waiting for the show! it’s gotten alot of bad rep from people, mostly westerners who don’t know when to scream racist and when not to. You can get a basic feel for the show now by viewing the movie it was based on – http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=video&cd=1&ved=0CDcQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo.google.com%2Fvideoplay%3Fdocid%3D-4803045557036299674&ei=rP9JTPjfLI72tgOjiI1J&usg=AFQjCNEzPLADSOt2K9MJ_7EYEmYAhxu4fw&sig2=DIrD4cfS3cNB5EbSR5xluA which as i understand is based on a real life story/experience. it was surprisingly respectful to both cultures yet incredibly fun and sensitive. it’s a favourite at our house (indian husband and indian/mongolian/european mix race wife)
Wow Nirmal — great find! I’m watching the movie right now.
Nirmal,
I’m glad to hear you like the show! I totally understand what you mean about people not knowing what is racist and what is not. Sometimes we have to embrace the quirkiness and unique humor that every culture has!
