Japanese baseball star Hideki Matsui wins World Series MVP

MatsuiA huge congratulations to Yankees star hitter Hideki Matsui!  Earlier tonight, Matsui became the first Japanese-born baseball player to win the World Series MVP award, hitting six RBIs to carry the Yankees to victory.  Matsui has now tied the World Series record for most RBIs in a game, which until tonight had been held solely by Bobby Richardson in 1960.

By the seventh inning, Matsui drew a standing ovation with fans chanting, “MVP! MVP! MVP!”  I can only imagine the kind of celebratory uproar he is igniting back home in Japan, where the baseball star is nicknamed “Godzilla.”

Go Matsui, and go Yankees!

(Thanks Hubie!)
