Care for a spaghetti sandwich?

One of my favorite snacks from the konbinis (or convenient stores in Japan) are peanut butter sandwiches. Mind you, they aren’t your average peanut butter sandwich. These aptly-named “Lunch Pack” sandwiches go hand-in-hand with Japan’s quick, easy and disposable way of life.

Why bother preparing a sandwich for your kid’s lunch box when you can buy one that already has crusts removed and edges fused together to prevent the messy filling from dripping out? Once you’re done with the sandwiches, you just throw away the plastic wrapping with no food smears to show for it. Although peanut butter is my ultimate favorite, there are other fillings such as margarine with jam, tuna and napolitan spaghetti!
