“Lots of crazy people,” my mom said, pulling me away from the street and into the covered walkway. Ever since I was a kid, my mom warned me about walking under the building windows in Hong Kong.
Take that as a word of caution from a wise fob. Last month, 30 people walking the busy streets of Mong Kok were struck by acid from a building. In December, 46 people were hit by acid on that same street, and on another street, two kids threw shards of glass at the people below.
What is it about these Hong Kong crazies and throwing things out of windows? Sadly, it’s a type of violence that’s characteristic of Hong Kong–just as random gun shootings seem to be characteristic of the US.
